Apple Pie Adult/Senior Division (Ages 14 & Up)

Traditional
Two-crust pie with apple filling only

  • 1st Place - $100 prize
  • 2nd Place - $50 prize
  • 3rd Place - $35 prize
  • Sponsor's Choice

Non-Traditional
Mostly apples but other ingredients may be used, such as nuts, caramel, other fruits, and crumb topping

  • 1st Place - $100 prize

  • Captain Applesauce's Choice

Showmanship Award - Open to all Pie Entries

Most beautifully decorated pie - $50 prize

Apple Butter - Open Category

Non-winning entires entries will be available for purchase at the Davis-McCann Center between 2:30pm and 4:30pm OR until sold out.

Champion Apple Pies and Apple Butter entries will be auctioned off at the Appletime Stage beginning at 5:30 pm.

Rules

  • Businesses or organizations may enter.

  • No frozen pies.

  • Pies and apple butter must be brought to the Davis-McCann Center between 7am and 10:45am on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

  • Containers become the property of the Apple Festival.
  • All apple butter jars must be sealed.

  • Apple Butter, Apple Pie, & Apple Baked Goods categories will have different judges.
  • Apple Pies will be judged on appearance, crust, filling, and flavor.

  • Apple Butter will be judged on appearance, taste, and texture.

  • Judges have the final decision.


The Murphysboro Apple Festival has implemented enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures and has added additional handwashing stations and sanitizing stations throughout the Festival grounds. Please follow all recommended guidelines while attending the Festival in order to keep it fun and safe for everyone!
